The Results of the First Ever GotS Survey… And What They Mean For YOU!

Not BAMF

Recently, I was bored.

My boredom usually manifests itself as finding something in my house to snack on that I don’t need to snack on while I watch wrestling videos on YouTube or play Pokemon cards online.

(Hey! Did you know I barely ever play Pokemon cards anymore? Whew, that was a fast-passing addiction that I never needed to have in the first place.)

But anyway… what I had on that particular night instead was one of those rare moments where boredom turned into productivity as I decided we should poll the Ghosts of the Stratosphere fanbase and see… what is it that you like or dislike about our show? How can we improve for you? What should we do going forward?

So full of the pissiest piss and the vinegest vinegar, I set up a SurveyMonkey account and pumped out a series of questions that seemed the most relevant as several popped into my head. Then I erased a few of them because SurveyMonkey only gives you ten questions for free! I love you folks, but not “extra money on unnecessary questions” love you.

Well, the results seem to be in, so why don’t you come with me as I scroll through the results and see what there is to see!

That’s promising! And, given what follows it in a few questions, not likely to be a bunch of smoke being blown up our ass, either! I do wish we had had more than 28 respondents, but you make it work with what you are given. I probably should have pushed harder for replies and REALLY jacked up that “Never” result. I figure it means our margin of error is literally 101%, though. But yeah! Keep listening in, most of you 28 people!

To the surprise of no one. I feel better about having all-but abandoned putting our shows up on YouTube… it’s just so time-consuming. It comes and goes in waves with my motivation, but none of our respondents were using it anyway, so… no matter!

My favorite of the write-in answers was “I don’t listen to podcasts”. Fair enough! At least it wasn’t “I don’t listen to YOUR podcast”! Always look on the bright side of life.

I, too, hate current events and news segments! I feel you, most-of-27-people! I was surprised our Games didn’t score out higher, but for real? Don’t expect us to stop them because they mostly tickle to me no end. I think we should do drafts more often. It’s almost an endless category, even though Andy doesn’t have my scope of imaginationfor what all we could draft. I’ll push hard for more frequent drafts, folks! And Top Ten Lists! Unfortunately, I can’t make movies come out more often. Unless… hmmm…

I put too many options here! That’s a lot of “No to Both”, and that disheartens me. But not as much as the next question…

Okay, this is my personal failing. I LOVE the website. I have adopted it as my little pet project to improve upon based on these results. Our podcast is our podcast, and that’s fine, but our website is much more inclusive! You don’t need to sit and give an hour of your day! You may not have to like comics! The website is for anyone who likes entertaining readin’. I endeavor to improve our site’s perceived value going forward. Maybe more article series and challenges? We will see! But I really want more folks to check out everything we have to offer.

Hahaha, what? Toy Discussion? Really? I mean, good for Chad’s toy articles, but I REALLY didn’t see that coming.

Pop-Tart Quest came in fifth. FIFTH! I’m probably-literally KILLING MYSELF for you people, and you give me fifth! It’s like you don’t even want to know about weird Pop-Tart Flavors! I guess it still beat out four other categories.

Here’s what this survey has taught me. You fine folks sure like your reviews and lists! Don’t we all?

This is an odd one to me. But hey, you do you, voters! You know we are spoiler heavy when we review things, right?

My personal preference is to lean towards LESS comics-focused material on the site to reach a broader audience, but I hear you, I hear you. We have kind of pigeon-holed ourselves at this point as “Those Comics Guys”. I’d like to… NOT be just that. But eh. At least the majority of votes went to the status quo and not moving towards MORE comics content, so… we’ll call it a draw!

That’s right! Patreon Content is coming! We have spent a lot–A LOT–of time discussing this, and we have most of the details planned out, but we wanted to know what the people would like to see from this premium content. Turns out, you want us to read more stuff!

… I really kind of hate you now.

No, that’s fine, it’s fine, this is fine. The voting was actually pretty cleanly spread out, so we have a lot to work with. I think there is the ability to change the show up month-to-month. We’ll try to stay away from the skits, though, since you apparently hate them. What, you don’t like our Macho Chad promo videos?! I am aghast. I don’t know what a ghast is, but I am one.

(I’ll be honest… I’m not a fan of the Classic Comics Reviews… it feels like we can/do do that already. I COULD be up for the issue-by-issue series, though).

But that’s it! Thanks again for all your input. If you still want to vote and haven’t yet, the survey is still up HERE, so go contribute and re-skew those numbers!

Until next time… take care!

CRT: Silver Surfer: Black

Hey kids! Around this time last year, I was finishing my time with Marvel’s Infinity Wars storyline. That story began in the Gerry Duggan Guardians of the Galaxy series, which I really enjoyed. Then Guardians folded to make way for the countdown miniseries, which led to the Infinity Wars mini, […]
